The joy of being petite

Many petite women, like myself, have to agree there is a bright-side to our small, dainty figure. We have the ability to dip into the little girl's section during our shop-scapades to save some serious dough. I like to check out the Crewcut's section of J.Crew every once in a while and I always find something cute that fits me just right! See below  ツ  I snagged this adorable striped shift dress (with pockets!) during J.Crew's 4th of July sale for only $22!

Fourth of July weekend

Happy Birthday, America!

I have to admit, I am not a huge fan of RED. Needless to say, there are not very many red pieces in my wardrobe. This Fourth of July, America just had to settle for my navy and pink Lilly Pulitzer & Kate Spade. But really? You can't get any more American than Lilly & Kate.

Leopard love

Yesterday was an exciting mail day-- my Clare Viv arrived in the mail! Everyone's been lusting over this Clare Vivier leopard foldover clutch! Thanks to the
accumulation of birthday money I was able to snag one for myself!  Can't wait to style her!

The ugly side of Poshmark

Ever heard of Poshmark? I am not sure many people have but when I first joined I was hooked! Who am I kidding, I still am! Well...maybe not nearly as much after this little fiasco I am about to tell you about but I'll get to that in a second...  Basically, it's a mobile app for fashion fiends to buy and sell their clothes with other fashion fiends. So essentially, this app is like an online yard sale for fashion addicts-- awesome right?! Maybe. I will say though, it's freaking ah-maze-balls how many awesome deals you can find on this app! I'll give you a little taste of what I mean--

J.Crew leather CeCe flats- retail $100+, bought on Poshmark for $30
BCBG leopard heels- retail $140, bought on Poshmark for $25
Medium Longchamp Le Pliage- retail $115, bought on Poshmark for $50
...and the list goes on!

The great thing about it is, all of the items are in fantastic, used condition! So, are you convinced yet?!
Well, I might un-convince you in a second....

Here's the crappy part about Poshmark. There have been a lot, I mean a lot, of scammers joining and a lot of girls getting scammed. Sooo, did I get scammed? Unfortunately, yes. Here's the good news though,  I am a lot smarter than this dumb girl and covered my bases before she could completely run away with my money. Well, to be fair I was the big dummy that took the transaction off of the app, into Paypal and trusted her to send my item on good faith. I still believe she's dumber than a bag of rocks but that's neither here nor there. So anyway, the Poshmark rules explicitly state that taking transactions outside of the app is not allowed and by doing so, you waive any kind of buyer guarantee they offer you through the app. What a lot of buyers and sellers do is ask for the item to be purchased through Paypal because Poshmark takes 20% off the purchase price. As a seller, this means you pocket all of the money. As the buyer, this means you may be able to talk the seller down into lowering the price since she will be pocketing all the costs through Paypal. So a win-win situation for all parties involved, right?... Not really....

I purchased a pair of Tory Burch shoes from a girl which started out in the Poshmark app, then we took it to PayPal. Bad move. I sent over the money and even asked her how soon she would be able to ship out. She said within the week. So I said, "Cool!". Two weeks go by...nothing. I send her two emails asking if she's sent it.  I wait for a response...  nothing. The not-so-dumb girl inside me says, "Call Paypal, dummy!" to see what kind of buyer protection plan they have. I speak to an agent, she totally hooks me up and advises me to start a claim against this chick, just in case. I would have nothing to lose-- they give her 10 days to respond. If no response OR if shoes are not sent yet, I get my money back regardless. SWEET! ...So I start the claim.  Another week goes by....nothing. So I finally put this girl on blast through the Poshmark app. Not rude or mean (well that may be up for debate).  Just in a logical, rightfully pissed off manner. She says she's going through a divorce, she hasn't touched the money, she refunded my money, I am starting drama, even threatens me blah blah blah. Lies, ALL LIES.  So I reported her, blocked her, informed my 1600+ followers she is, in fact, a scam artist. And now, I wait for Paypal to refund my money....

Moral of the story, kids: "Don't be a dummy like, Ashly"

Follow the rules and you won't get burned.

After all is said and done, I would still recommend downloading the app! It definitely has many more perks than a few scam artist's here and there. Just be smart with who you deal with and you'll be  golden!

ootd

To do list:
• laundry (clearly)
• buy a bigger full-length mirror because this one hanging on my closet door just isn't cutting it.

Yesterday's OOTD. Threw this together for a quick trip to the grocery store. I love fedoras, especially on bad hair days-- this was one of them.

Instagram favorites

Who isn't Instagramming these days?! Instagram has to be my favorite social media outlet right now. Facebook has become boring and I think it may have dropped down a few notches on the cool meter a few years ago- well, my cool meter anyway. I suppose that's not saying much because we all know how old and uncool I've become.... but I digress. Facebook has reached it's peak and is on its slow decline, kind of like how MySpace dropped off -- yeahhh... that's right kids, I said MySpace -- when Facebook appeared MySpace just disappeared. Yepppp, this is the start of Facebook's inevitable descent. And then there's Twitter... well, i don't know too much about The Tweeter- that's an area I have yet to dabble. I'll be the first to admit that I STILL have no idea how to use The Tweeter. I need to work on some surrious Tweet skills. I, literally, just learned how to use a #hashtag, folks! That illustrates just how old and out of sync with pop culture I really am. Not even confident that I even hashtagged that #hashtag correctly. Meh, I give up.  For now, I'll just stick to my Instagrams-- just pictures, very few words-- that's more my speed. With that said, here are my favorites:
